Rocking The Daisies

My friend Pieter told me he wanted to go to Rocking the Daisies Music Festival. I was pretty keen. Then he said we were cycling there, then I knew I was in. Albert and Leon joined in and completed our little group. It was a really enjoyable ride, about 80km's. The Festival was amazing, so many good times. Definitely hitting the next one.

With Pieter around you never have to fear of going hungry.

I have had my fisheye lens for a while now, I absolutely love it. This isn't what I would use a fish for and a lot of people hate pics like this, but you can't deny it gives a dynamic perspective.

The sky changed from the first frame to the third in about 15 mins. Was Pretty cool watching it happen

In December, I went with some friends on an awesome roadtrip to Durban via Transkei. It definitely had it's ups and downs. These are two photo's representing each end of the spectrum. The first is of Chris. He is a gay, white sangoma. He had a unique outlook on life, a positive energy for sure. Good Vibes.

Due to a car accident in Transkei we were limited to one Bakkie as transport for the rest of the trip. 10 Guys in one bakkie is no joke. I snapped the second shot while we were hiding from the rain. You can see Albert about to snap from "situations" on the left, and Jacques being Jacques on the right.

Missions, Dogs and Backyard Jumps

A few of us went on a mission to Somerset West/Stellenbosch. We went to Belair Trails where Jonty was hitting the recently repaired big line, BOOM!! We hit some street after that, here is Willie about to have a really scary looking crash. I have been present for 3 different people doing this rail, all three have as Konstant puts it "Had sex with the concrete". After that we cruised to Stellenbosch where we were entertained by some interesting locals.

I have been riding loads lately, which has been awesome. Here are some shots I setup and had the boys shoot. Trigger Fingers are there.

Here is a shot of Dewald, this guy skates just to skate. Don't be surprised if you see a Ramones listening, Skinny jeans and Leather Jacket wearing rocker come bombing past your car on a steep downhill.

We went to MTBer Ryan Franklin's House on the weekend. His parents were cool enough to let him build jumps in his yard. Here is a shot of UK transplant Damian, This guy has a wicked style and some sweet manoeuvres. Ian is also ripping, here he is dominating my bike.

I was busy in my garage when this 'Arctic Wolf' just randomly strolled in, this has to be one of the coolest dogs I have ever seen. He chilled it out for about 10 minutes and left after getting a thorough bellyrub.

Frivolous Friday Fun

Last Night was the Ep Launch for Foto Na Dans held at Mercury. These guys are seriously the friendliest and most dedicated individuals one could meet. They played an awesome show despite breaking their Bass Drum halfway through the set, good times nonetheless. There were quite a lot of people so I didn't move around too much, hence quite a few shots of Neil. Afterwards we just chilled out for a while and absorbed the people of Cape Town.

You have to love Cape Town. This is a GUY dancing his heart out. Enough Said

All I know about this girl is she was cool enough to let me take some pics of her tattoo's, her name is Jenny and she is 24 years wild.

After the show at Mercury we moved over to Shack, where my friend Steph finally showed me hear dislocating shoulder trick. This is way too disgusting for someone so sweet

Overdue but sliding in...

It's been a while since I last posted. It was a mixture of being busy and not having Internet access for quite some time. All excuses aside, here we are. Clemi took this shot of Me and "The Bee" getting radical. Good Friends, Good Trails, Good Times. VGV. It took a few tries to time this correctly.
Pieter skating our soon to be completed Ghetto Concrete mini. It is all hand built and shaped and we are learning as we go along. So far it's working out okay.

My friend Phil needed some shots of his band. This was the most unorganised gathering of people ever. I have started scanning in some old film photo's that have just been lying around. This was taken with my Lomo Fish and a ttl chord with an SB-800. Different Worlds

Some friends told me they were going to go chill at the windmills and asked if I wanted to tag along. 1 in the morning and entertaining myself. It was super cold and the wind was cutting through our clothes. This was my first time "Painting with light". It is hard to judge how long to paint for, I was pretty happy with this, but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement. This is the start of many more missions.

This weekend was a long weekend mixed with much emotion. My computer crashed on Saturday morning so I did this update using the laptop. I didn't realise how much I used my computer until it was gone, Photoshop is sorely missed, I made the borders and conversions on these pics using http://www.picnik.com/, a fun and entertaining site.

Last night was an Indie explosion. Howard Roark and New Loud Rockets Unleashed some mighty good tunes on an appreciative crowd at the Waiting Room. Thanks to the guy who picked up my flash and batteries off the floor after it fell (from very high) off the speaker.

My wallet was stolen out of my room the other day with all my cards. I got the cards replaced for free but was shocked to see how much a wallet costs. I spent about 20-30 min. and made one out of duct tape and some Speak the Silence stickers (I'm a tweaker). It's dialled - "If it's free it's for me". I just watched a segment on Identity theft on Carte Blanche hence the un-needed paranoid blur.

On a Sad note. Inus Wiehahn was in a car accident and passed away early Saturday morning. He was truly a legend guy to hang out with, he will be missed. Rip In Peace Bro

A few friends and I went riding in Paarl. It was super hot especially considering all the cold weather we have been having lately. Not too much riding went down, but there are some really awesome buildings in Paarl and radical Skies, I happen to like both.

Clemi Pulled this perfectly. He literally did the entire rail My friend Adriaan Inherited a rad TLR Medium Format Camera recently. I know this has been done a million times before but I always wanted to try it. Jacques hurt himself before he stuck this clean, he came really close though

Botswana/Zambia

Here are a few pics of a 4x4 trip my dad and I did last year up to Botswana and Zambia. It was amazing, everything from the remote locations to wildlife to the local people. The people in Botswana and Zambia are extremely friendly despite having very little. A trip up there really humbles one, and makes you grateful for what you have.

This picture is of a guy called 'Salt'. He's a legend and really fits the phrase "Salt of the earth".

I woke up early the one morning to be greeted by this sunrise. It was a little nerve-racking being all alone while taking this with wild animals around.

The Road in Moremi. From the Gate of the park to camp was 42Km, it took us just under 8hours to get there.

While staying in Moremi on the Okavango Delta, a Huge Male Elephant came through the camp, no fences, no rangers. At one point he was about 3 metres away from me, it was one of the most awesome and scariest experiences of my entire life.

I took this shot at UCT last night. It is nothing really, I was just helping a friend with a project. It was a 30 second exposure and came out pretty clean considering the D200 is supposed to be noisy during long exposures.

Ian and Harold went to George this weekend and they each came back with these little beauties. Here is Ian's marking still fresh with blood. The bottom pic is an idea I want to build on in the near future.

Not too much I can really say about this pic other than I really like my fisheye lens and cows are weird animals.

I am a sucker for the sun behind the clouds. The mirror shot was taken while I was driving because I was in a rush to get home and there was nowhere to pull the car over. I am pretty happy how it turned out anyway.

Here are some pics I took the other day in the Canola Fields. It was pretty much my first time taking photo's of people. I brought some friends along, Kristen for the beauty and Phil for ... well he brought some Frank along. The whole thing was super relaxed and all the shots were spontaneous, the day was fun and can pretty much be summed up in this first pic.

They say you can judge a person by the friends they keep.

I worked on this old shot today, it was my first time stitching a sequence together. I am not generally a big fan of sequence shots, but every now and again they can look alright.
